Once precious and incredibly, carefully preserved down 250 years, this antique Georgian era ring is dedicated to the life of a young child Henry Mayer who passed this life at 6 months and 16 days. We imagine that this sentimental finger ring belonged to his mother Margaret and this fine antique ring remains in very lovely condition showing only softening of the details with loving wear. The face shows a beautifully woven section of hair framed by hand faceted pinky Almandine Garnets, all most touchingly lovely as it takes us back down the centuries to the heart wrenching dedication which is hand engraved to the reverse of the head; 'H'y Mayer ob't Aug 23 1772 e 6 months 16 days'. All of Gold which we haven't tested due to the damage this can cause but we would judge a lower grade than 22ct which was the only 'standard' at that time.
We have found his baptism record for 25 February 1772 at St George in Hanover Square, Westminster, London (son of Henry and Margaret Meyer) and then sadly his burial record on 26th August 1772. We would love to find a loving new home for this once treasured heirloom so that Henry can continue to be remembered into his third century.
